Acupuncture
Acupuncture is one of the best known of our natural therapies and for a good reason. Few medical treatments, either mainstream or holistic, are so versatile in treating such a wide range of conditions.
How does it work?
Acupuncture is one of the cornerstones of traditional Chinese medicine. Developed over thousands of years, it is a way of tapping into the life force the Chinese call Chi through certain points on the body. These acupuncture points are situated along the meridian system which is closely associated with the nervous system.
For the modern mind, it’s perhaps easier to think of Chi as bio-electrical energy – a stream of light particles flowing in the electro-magnetic field of the body. By inserting a needle into the appropriate acupuncture points, it is possible for the trained practitioner to regulate dysfunction in this flow and correct the onset of a disease or physical condition. Essentially it sets in motion the body’s ability to heal itself.
What does the treatment involve?
The Rosedale Clinic is rooted in the practice of acupuncture, and in Chris Boardman – the founder of the clinic – you have one of the most experienced acupuncture practitioners in the country. His approach is to begin with an Oriental Diagnosis to get a comprehensive picture of your health and specific needs.
This is followed by the treatment itself which involves inserting very thin needles into the appropriate acupuncture points in your body. This is almost never painful but you may feel some sensation such as tingling, warmth or heaviness. (If you or your children have serious concerns about needles, then you might want to consider our laser acupuncture.)
Is acupuncture for me?
Acupuncture can be used to treat specific medical issues or as a way of simply ‘tuning’ your body and maintaining a well-balanced flow of energy for improved health.
Either way, we will be able to advise you, based on professional training and many years of acupuncture experience, on whether you could expect to benefit from a course of treatment. Please contact the clinic if you’d like to know more.
